Automated summary
Psychrometric calculation agent that derives air properties at every point of an air-handling process and cross-checks the resulting thermal loads.
Strengths
- Computes the full property set (DB, WB, RH, humidity ratio, enthalpy, specific volume, dew point) using Hyland-Wexler equations with altitude-based barometric correction.
- Handles real process steps: OA/RA mixing, sensible and total cooling with SHR and apparatus dew point, heating, and steam humidification.
- Emits a structured state/psychro.json file that downstream pipeline steps can consume.
- Grounds outdoor design states in ASHRAE climate tables (0.4%, 1%, 99.6%, 99% conditions).
Limitations
- Imperial units only (°F, BTU/lb, CFM, lb/lb); no SI conversion path is described.
- Requires the psychrometrics MCP tools plus state/*.json inputs — it cannot calculate or write output without them.
- Scope stops at air states and coil loads: no equipment selection, cost estimating, or duct pressure-drop analysis.
Use it to build or audit the psychrometric balance of an air handling unit from airflow rates, outdoor design conditions, and supply-air targets.
Avoid it for SI-unit design work, HVAC component selection, or anything requiring airflow network and pressure-drop calculations.
Security analysis
SafeThe skill only uses Read, Write, and two MCP tools for psychrometric calculations/processes. It contains no shell commands, network exfiltration, destructive actions, or obfuscated payloads. The declared tools align with legitimate file input/output and domain-specific computation.

Psychrometric Fundamentals
Key Properties
| Property | Symbol | Units | Notes | |----------|--------|-------|-------| | Dry-bulb temperature | Tdb | °F | Measured by standard thermometer | | Wet-bulb temperature | Twb | °F | Adiabatic saturation temperature | | Relative humidity | RH | % | Actual/saturated vapor pressure | | Humidity ratio | W | lb/lb | Mass of water per mass of dry air | | Enthalpy | h | BTU/lb | Total heat content | | Specific volume | v | ft³/lb | Volume per unit mass | | Dew point | Tdp | °F | Temperature at saturation |
Equations (at sea level)
Saturation Pressure (Hyland-Wexler):
ln(Pws) = C₁/T + C₂ + C₃T + C₄T² + C₅T³ + C₆ln(T)
Humidity Ratio:
W = 0.62198 × Pw / (P - Pw)
Enthalpy:
h = 0.240×Tdb + W×(1061 + 0.444×Tdb)
Specific Volume:
v = 0.370486 × (Tdb + 459.67) × (1 + 1.6078×W) / P
Altitude Correction
Barometric pressure at altitude:
P = 14.696 × (1 - 6.8754×10⁻⁶ × altitude)^5.2559
Process Calculations
Mixing Two Airstreams
Given: Outdoor air (OA) and Return air (RA) at known states
W_mix = (CFM_OA × W_OA + CFM_RA × W_RA) / CFM_total
h_mix = (CFM_OA × h_OA + CFM_RA × h_RA) / CFM_total
Solve for Tdb_mix from h_mix and W_mix.
Cooling Coil Process
Sensible Cooling (above dew point):
Q_sensible = 1.08 × CFM × ΔT
Total Cooling (with dehumidification):
Q_total = 4.5 × CFM × Δh
Sensible Heat Ratio:
SHR = Q_sensible / Q_total
Apparatus Dew Point: Intersection of process line with saturation curve.
Heating Process
Sensible only (constant humidity ratio):
Q_heating = 1.08 × CFM × ΔT
Humidification
Steam injection (constant dry-bulb):
lb_steam/hr = CFM × ρ × ΔW × 60
ASHRAE Design Conditions
Use ASHRAE Fundamentals climate data:
| Condition | Application | |-----------|-------------| | 0.4% cooling DB/MCWB | Peak cooling | | 1% cooling DB/MCWB | Typical design | | 99.6% heating DB | Peak heating | | 99% heating DB | Typical design |

Analysis Procedure
-
Establish Outdoor Conditions
- Look up design conditions for location
- Summer: 0.4% or 1% DB/MCWB
- Winter: 99.6% or 99% DB
-
Define Return Air State
- From request or default (75°F, 50% RH)
-
Calculate Mixed Air
- Based on outdoor air fraction
- Verify mixed air conditions
-
Determine Coil Requirements
- Cooling: from mixed to supply
- Calculate SHR to verify coil selection
- Heating: winter preheat and reheat

Common Issues
- Mixed air too cold in winter: Add preheat coil
- High latent load: May need lower ADP, more coil rows
- Humidity not achievable: Add humidification
- SHR mismatch: Adjust coil bypass factor

1. Download the file
Download SKILL.mdFrom the root of a test project, save the file as .skill-downloads/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays/SKILL.md, or use the command below. This folder is for inspecting the skill before installation.
Command for macOS/Linux or WSL: requires a POSIX shell and curl. On Windows without WSL, use the download button and create the folder manually.
mkdir -p '.skill-downloads/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays' && curl --fail --show-error --location 'https://skills-guides.com/api/skills/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays/download' --output '.skill-downloads/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays/SKILL.md.part' && mv '.skill-downloads/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays/SKILL.md.part' '.skill-downloads/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays/SKILL.md'2. Check prerequisites
Read SKILL.md before using it. If it references scripts or external services, inspect them and prepare the required access in your test environment.
No recognized prerequisites section in this file. This does not mean it is self-contained: libraries, tools and access requirements may be mentioned elsewhere in the content or source repository.
The platforms on this page are catalog indications. The paths below follow tool documentation; they do not prove this skill has been run in those tools. No minimum tool version is confirmed for this listing.
3. Load the skill
After inspection, copy the complete folder into your project using one of the commands below, then open a new tool session. The command stops if a folder with the same name already exists: compare the files before replacing it.

OpenSkills must already be installed. The local install/read procedure is checked with OpenSkills 1.5.0, which requires Node.js ≥ 20.6.0. Catalog slugs are not resolved automatically.
Official OpenSkills installationopenskills install './.skill-downloads/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays'openskills read 'ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays'Reading should display the installed file content and its base directory. It does not run the skill or install its dependencies.
For an agent that reads AGENTS.md, then sync the index. This command changes AGENTS.md: review the diff before using it.
openskills syncManual method or another tool: attach SKILL.md to a conversation, or open it in an agent that can read files. Include any required supporting resources. No universal folder is recognized by every tool.
4. Try a first task
Use a short, synthetic input: an API endpoint, a small document or an interface brief. In a new conversation, attach the file or give the agent its path, then adapt this request:
Read .skill-downloads/ahu-psychrometric-agent-mrwakays/SKILL.md and apply its instructions to this example: [describe a test input]. Identify any missing files, dependencies or access. Produce the result requested by the skill without inventing data or running unreviewed scripts.Expected result: output matching the skill instructions, or a precise list of missing prerequisites. A read confirmation alone does not validate a first use. If an external resource is unavailable, that path remains untested.
