Our review
Explains how clock-in and clock-out work in Attendance and what causes the most common error states.
Strengths
- Answers directly without calling tools, so responses are fast and predictable
- Lists the usual clock-in blockers: an already-open session, no active shift, ambiguous shift assignment, approved time off, a device-clock issue or missing access
- States clearly when HR or an administrator must step in, for example to assign a missing shift
- Warns employees against creating a duplicate session to work around an error
Limitations
- Assumes the My Attendance page and attendance tracking are enabled and that {{attendance_my_attendance_url}} resolves correctly
- Does not cover shift or roster configuration, nor timesheet corrections
- Does not read the employee's actual attendance state, so the guidance stays generic and may not match a specific case
Use it when an employee asks how to clock in or out, how to view their current session, or why clock-in or clock-out is unavailable.
Avoid it for setting up shifts, correcting recorded hours, or diagnosing permission and access problems.
Security analysis
SafeThe skill only provides explanatory text about attendance clock-in/out behavior and explicitly instructs not to call executable tools. No risky or destructive operations are present.

Answer objective
Explain employee clock-in/out behavior, common error states, and when HR/Admin intervention is required.
Instructions
- Answer directly without calling executable tools.
Direct answer
Open My Attendance.
Attendance Tracking can show the employee's current attendance state and session history where enabled. Employees clock in to start a session and clock out to close it.
Employees do not configure shifts or rosters from this page. If no active shift is assigned, HR/Admin must set up or assign the shift first.
If clock-in is unavailable, check for an already-open session, no active shift, an ambiguous shift assignment, approved time off, a device-clock problem, or missing access. If clock-out is unavailable, the session may already be closed, the current state may still be loading, a clock-out window may have been exceeded, a cooldown may apply, or the user may not have the required access. Managers should review the timesheet or session record if the employee's attendance state looks incorrect; employees should not create a duplicate session to work around the error.
