Recommended for

Automated summary

Translates text into a requested language while keeping the source wording, the translation, and any explanation explicitly distinguishable.

Strengths

  • Clearly separates original text, translation, and commentary so interpretation is never passed off as translation
  • Defers to the user's instructions on target language, order, format, and scope, including sentence-by-sentence layouts
  • Includes only the components that were asked for, so a request for explanation alone gets no unrequested translation
  • Adds a final self-check that the reader can tell the three components apart

Limitations

  • Gives no guidance on mixed-language input, ambiguous terms, or highly technical vocabulary
  • Does not define a concrete output format (labels, tables, blocks), leaving layout to the model's judgement
  • The allowed tools (Read, Glob, Grep, WebFetch) assume a file or URL source with no fallback described if fetching fails
When to use it

Use it when a text must be translated or rendered bilingually and the translation needs to stay visibly separate from commentary.

When not to use it

Not needed for rewriting, summarizing, or restyling within the same language, or when the user does not want source, translation, and explanation kept apart.

Security analysis

Safe
Quality score74/100

The skill is pure prompt guidance for producing labeled translations. Its tool set is read-only and non-destructive (Read, Glob, Grep, WebFetch) with no shell execution, file writes, credential access, or data exfiltration. The only notable capability is WebFetch, which is used for the legitimate purpose of retrieving text to translate; no obfuscation, prompt-injection, or instructions to bypass safety are present.

Findings
  • •WebFetch is declared, giving the skill outbound network access to arbitrary user-supplied URLs; this is proportionate for a translation skill but the fetched content is untrusted input.

Examples

Sentence-by-sentence translation
Translate this French paragraph into English sentence by sentence, keeping each original sentence next to its translation: 'La réunion est reportée à jeudi. Merci de confirmer votre présence.'
Translate a file
Read docs/readme.de.md and translate it into French, marking clearly what is the original German, what is the translation, and what is your commentary.
Explain a foreign-language page
Fetch https://example.com/article and explain in English what it says, quoting the original Spanish where relevant.

Translate with Clear Attribution

Follow the user's requested target language, scope, order, and format. If no target language is specified and the context does not establish one, use the current conversation language.

Make the distinction between original text, translation, and explanation explicit. Apply the following defaults unless the user specifies a different treatment.

  • Original text: Identify quoted source wording as original text and preserve it as supplied.
  • Translation: Identify translated wording as translation and keep it faithful to the source. Put added commentary, interpretation, and background in the explanation rather than presenting them as part of the translation.
  • Explanation: Identify explanations as explanations. Keep analysis, context, and interpretation distinguishable from both the source wording and its translation.

Use clear labels or distinct blocks for the components included in the response. Separation does not require including all three components; include only what serves the user's request.

The user's explicit requirements take precedence. If the user asks only for an explanation, provide the explanation without adding an unrequested translation. If the user asks for sentence-by-sentence translation, organize the response by sentence rather than imposing three document-wide sections. Follow any other requested scope, order, format, or additions instead of forcing the default arrangement.

Before responding, check that the reader can distinguish the included original wording, translated wording, and explanatory additions, and that the response follows the user's specific requirements.

This download contains SKILL.md only. Any scripts, references, templates and dependencies are not included. Get the required files from the source, preserving their directory structure, before continuing.

1. Download the file

Download SKILL.md

From the root of a test project, save the file as .skill-downloads/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0/SKILL.md, or use the command below. This folder is for inspecting the skill before installation.

Command for macOS/Linux or WSL: requires a POSIX shell and curl. On Windows without WSL, use the download button and create the folder manually.

mkdir -p '.skill-downloads/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0' && curl --fail --show-error --location 'https://skills-guides.com/api/skills/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0/download' --output '.skill-downloads/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0/SKILL.md.part' && mv '.skill-downloads/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0/SKILL.md.part' '.skill-downloads/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0/SKILL.md'

2. Check prerequisites

Read SKILL.md before using it. If it references scripts or external services, inspect them and prepare the required access in your test environment.

No recognized prerequisites section in this file. This does not mean it is self-contained: libraries, tools and access requirements may be mentioned elsewhere in the content or source repository.

The platforms on this page are catalog indications. The paths below follow tool documentation; they do not prove this skill has been run in those tools. No minimum tool version is confirmed for this listing.

3. Load the skill

After inspection, copy the complete folder into your project using one of the commands below, then open a new tool session. The command stops if a folder with the same name already exists: compare the files before replacing it.

OpenSkills

OpenSkills must already be installed. The local install/read procedure is checked with OpenSkills 1.5.0, which requires Node.js ≥ 20.6.0. Catalog slugs are not resolved automatically.

Official OpenSkills installation
openskills install './.skill-downloads/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0'

openskills read 'translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0'

Reading should display the installed file content and its base directory. It does not run the skill or install its dependencies.

For an agent that reads AGENTS.md, then sync the index. This command changes AGENTS.md: review the diff before using it.

openskills sync

Manual method or another tool: attach SKILL.md to a conversation, or open it in an agent that can read files. Include any required supporting resources. No universal folder is recognized by every tool.

4. Try a first task

Use a short, synthetic input: an API endpoint, a small document or an interface brief. In a new conversation, attach the file or give the agent its path, then adapt this request:

Read .skill-downloads/translation-with-clear-attribution-mvda87o0/SKILL.md and apply its instructions to this example: [describe a test input]. Identify any missing files, dependencies or access. Produce the result requested by the skill without inventing data or running unreviewed scripts.

Expected result: output matching the skill instructions, or a precise list of missing prerequisites. A read confirmation alone does not validate a first use. If an external resource is unavailable, that path remains untested.
