Automated summary

Keeps the Stratal agent skill files in `.agents/skills/stratal/` in sync with source code changes by diffing the current branch against its base and editing only the affected skill files.

Strengths

  • Diff-driven workflow: reads `git log` and `git diff <base>...HEAD` before editing, so changes stay scoped to areas actually touched by the branch
  • Enforces the three-tier progressive disclosure layout explicitly (`SKILL.md` under 400 lines, detail pushed into `references/`)
  • Includes a dedicated verification pass: sweep for renamed/removed API names, check import paths in code examples, confirm the reference loading guide matches file contents
  • Agent-oriented writing rules (imperative voice, copy-pasteable examples with import paths, simplest approach first) plus an explicit ban on documenting internal plumbing

Limitations

  • Assumes a git repo with an identifiable base branch (tracked upstream or `main`) and intact history
  • Covers only the `.agents/skills/stratal/` tree; other documentation formats or skill layouts are out of scope
  • No automated validation — nothing confirms that edited examples actually compile or run
When to use it

Use it after changing Stratal's public API to bring the skill files back in line before merging or releasing.

When not to use it

Don't use it to author a brand-new skill or doc from scratch, or when there is no diff or git history to work from.

Security analysis

Safe
Quality score93/100

The skill only instructs running read-only git commands (log, diff, stat) and editing documentation files within the repository. It does not execute shell commands with side effects, exfiltrate data, or use obfuscated payloads. No destructive or network operations are involved.

Examples

Sync skill docs after an API change
I added a new option to a public Stratal decorator. Diff my branch against main, work out which public-facing APIs changed, and update the skill files in .agents/skills/stratal/ to match — edit existing sections where possible.
Stale reference sweep
We renamed some public Stratal APIs on this branch. Search every file in .agents/skills/stratal/ for the old names, fix any stale references, and verify the import paths in all code examples are correct.
Refresh troubleshooting and examples
Review the diff of this branch against main and update SKILL.md: add any new user-facing errors to the troubleshooting section, add example interactions for new features, and bump the version in the frontmatter.

Update the Stratal agent skill files in .agents/skills/stratal/ to reflect source code changes.

Workflow

  1. Determine the base branch: check if this branch tracks an upstream, otherwise default to main.
  2. git log <base>..HEAD --oneline — understand the scope of changes.
  3. git diff <base>...HEAD --stat — identify which source files changed.
  4. git diff <base>...HEAD — read the actual changes. Focus on public-facing API changes: new/renamed/removed classes, decorators, types, functions, CLI commands, config options, exports. Ignore internal implementation details.
  5. Read all existing skill files: SKILL.md, references/*.md, assets/*.md.
  6. For each public-facing change, identify which skill file(s) it belongs to (match by feature area).
  7. Make targeted edits. Prefer editing existing sections. Add new sections or files only for entirely new feature areas.
  8. Verification pass:
    • Search all skill files for renamed or removed API names — fix any stale references.
    • Confirm import paths in code examples are correct.
    • Verify SKILL.md reference loading guide descriptions match reference file content.

Skill Structure (three-tier progressive disclosure)

| Tier | File | When loaded | Contents | |------|------|-------------|----------| | 1 | SKILL.md YAML frontmatter | Always | Skill name, trigger description, metadata | | 2 | SKILL.md body | When skill activates | Critical rules, quick API reference, workflows, example interactions, troubleshooting, reference loading guide | | 3 | references/*.md | On demand | Detailed API docs, full examples, configuration options |

assets/ holds supporting templates (e.g. project scaffold).

Writing Style

Write for AI agents executing tasks, not for humans reading documentation.

  • Imperative and actionable: "Use X", "Add Y", "Import Z from"
  • Every code example must include the correct import path
  • Show the simplest approach first, advanced options after
  • Use practical, copy-pasteable examples — not pseudocode
  • Prefer patterns over prose: agents act on examples, not explanations

Never document internal plumbing (agents never import or call these directly):

  • Internal classes/services: RouteRegistry, RouterResolver, VersioningService, LocalePathService, runWithContainer, containerStorage
  • Internal strategies: two-pass registration, specificity scoring, path expansion
  • Internal types: RouterEntry, RegisteredRoute, RouteRegistrationInput

Rules

  • Only edit files affected by the diff. Do not touch unrelated files.
  • Do not fabricate APIs — only document what exists in the source diff.
  • Keep SKILL.md under 400 lines. Move detail to reference files.
  • Update SKILL.md troubleshooting when new user-facing errors are introduced.
  • Update SKILL.md example interactions when new user-facing features ship.
  • Update SKILL.md reference loading guide if a reference file's scope changes.
  • Bump version in SKILL.md frontmatter on significant changes.
  • description in frontmatter: format as [What it does] + [When to use] + [Key capabilities], include trigger phrases, max 1024 chars, no XML tags.

This download contains SKILL.md only. Any scripts, references, templates and dependencies are not included. Get the required files from the source, preserving their directory structure, before continuing.

1. Download the file

Download SKILL.md

From the root of a test project, save the file as .skill-downloads/update-stratal-skill-files-muar2zw7/SKILL.md, or use the command below. This folder is for inspecting the skill before installation.

Command for macOS/Linux or WSL: requires a POSIX shell and curl. On Windows without WSL, use the download button and create the folder manually.

mkdir -p '.skill-downloads/update-stratal-skill-files-muar2zw7' && curl --fail --show-error --location 'https://skills-guides.com/api/skills/update-stratal-skill-files-muar2zw7/download' --output '.skill-downloads/update-stratal-skill-files-muar2zw7/SKILL.md.part' && mv '.skill-downloads/update-stratal-skill-files-muar2zw7/SKILL.md.part' '.skill-downloads/update-stratal-skill-files-muar2zw7/SKILL.md'

2. Check prerequisites

Read SKILL.md before using it. If it references scripts or external services, inspect them and prepare the required access in your test environment.

No recognized prerequisites section in this file. This does not mean it is self-contained: libraries, tools and access requirements may be mentioned elsewhere in the content or source repository.

The platforms on this page are catalog indications. The paths below follow tool documentation; they do not prove this skill has been run in those tools. No minimum tool version is confirmed for this listing.

3. Load the skill

This file does not provide a usable name/description header for this native procedure. It remains available to download and inspect; use the manual method below.

Manual method or another tool: attach SKILL.md to a conversation, or open it in an agent that can read files. Include any required supporting resources. No universal folder is recognized by every tool.

4. Try a first task

Use a short, synthetic input: an API endpoint, a small document or an interface brief. In a new conversation, attach the file or give the agent its path, then adapt this request:

Read .skill-downloads/update-stratal-skill-files-muar2zw7/SKILL.md and apply its instructions to this example: [describe a test input]. Identify any missing files, dependencies or access. Produce the result requested by the skill without inventing data or running unreviewed scripts.

Expected result: output matching the skill instructions, or a precise list of missing prerequisites. A read confirmation alone does not validate a first use. If an external resource is unavailable, that path remains untested.
