Neural Computation Mapping

From C04 Bio & Neuro: NBI (Neurobiological Intelligence) and neural computation.

Neural computation model:

  • Neural encoding: how information is encoded in neural activity (rate, temporal, population)
  • Neural processing: how neurons process information (integration, threshold, firing)
  • Neural plasticity: how neural connections change with experience (LTP, LTD)
  • Neural networks: how networks of neurons compute (feedforward, recurrent, modular)

Mapping to AMOS:

  • Neural encoding -> Memory encoding: how information is stored
  • Neural processing -> Cognitive processing: how information is processed
  • Neural plasticity -> Learning: how the system adapts
  • Neural networks -> Agent networks: how agents collaborate

Mapping law: BIOLOGICAL != COMPUTATIONAL. Biological neural computation is not identical to computational neural networks. The mapping is an analogy (AMOS_MODEL).

Epistemic Boundary

Neural computation mapping is an analytical analogy. It does not prove the system implements neural computation, that the mapping is biologically accurate, or that neural networks are always the right computational model.

Failure Modes

  • Insufficient evidence: If source material is insufficient, mark as UNKNOWN/GAP and fail closed — do not fabricate.
  • Scope violation: If the query falls outside the skill's declared scope, escalate to the parent skill or steward.
  • Binding broken: If 1:1:1 binding (skill→agent→workflow) is broken, flag routing mismatch and block execution.
  • Validation failure: If validation gates fail, downgrade confidence, flag the gap, and escalate — do not force-fit.

  • On missing evidence: Flag as GAP and reduce confidence ceiling to 0.5
  • On contradiction: Flag as CRITICAL_GAP and halt until resolved
  • On provenance loss: Mark output as UNKNOWN and require human review
  • On drift: Trigger drift alignment via amos-ai-drift-alignment-governor
