Exemples

Soft-edged circle
Write a GLSL fragment shader that draws a soft-edged circle centered on screen using an SDF and smoothstep, with the radius as a uniform.
Morphing blob
Using SDF smooth union, create two moving circles in GLSL that blend into a single blob as they approach each other.
Raymarched 3D shape
Build a raymarched scene in GLSL with a sphere and a torus using SDF primitives and boolean subtraction.

name: shader-sdf description: Signed Distance Functions (SDFs) in GLSL—2D/3D shape primitives, boolean operations (union, intersection, subtraction), smooth blending, repetition, and raymarching fundamentals. Use when creating procedural shapes, text effects, smooth morphing, or raymarched 3D scenes.

Shader SDFs

Signed Distance Functions return the distance from a point to a shape's surface. Negative = inside, positive = outside, zero = on surface.

// Usage
float d = sdCircle(uv - 0.5, 0.3);

// Render
vec3 color = d < 0.0 ? vec3(1.0) : vec3(0.0);           // Hard edge
vec3 color = vec3(smoothstep(0.01, 0.0, d));            // Soft edge
vec3 color = vec3(smoothstep(0.02, 0.0, abs(d)));       // Outline

mkdir -p '.skill-downloads/sdf-shaders-in-glsl-ms9wnz7h' && curl --fail --show-error --location 'https://skills-guides.com/api/skills/sdf-shaders-in-glsl-ms9wnz7h/download' --output '.skill-downloads/sdf-shaders-in-glsl-ms9wnz7h/SKILL.md.part' && mv '.skill-downloads/sdf-shaders-in-glsl-ms9wnz7h/SKILL.md.part' '.skill-downloads/sdf-shaders-in-glsl-ms9wnz7h/SKILL.md'
